Chopped Strand Mat (CSM) is the most common form of reinforcement and used with polyester and vinyl ester resin for hand layup. Each MM long strands are randomly distributed into a uniform mat and held together with styrene soluble polyester binder (Powder or Emulsion). Supplied on a roll in a grade of various thickness expressed in weight per square meter. 4 most used are 225,300,450 and 600 gr/m .A usual GRP structure would contain 2~2.5 kg resin for each 1 kg CSM. When using with epoxy resin, powder bound must be used.
